Where You Go, I Will Follow | Bila Engkau Tak Besertaku | Lagu Rohani
"If Your presence does not go [with me], do not lead us up from here." - Moses
How many of us have been guilty of saying "where I go, God, You must follow."
We don't say it to God directly (of course not) but in a more subtle way. Picking a major, applying to colleges, taking the job opportunity, moving to another city, starting that business or relationship, doing it all BEFORE first seeking and asking the Lord for guidance. Yes, I'm guilty of this. Especially since I am a goal-oriented person, I like to plan out my whole day, week, month, or year beforehand so that I can stay focus and productive.
The older I get though, the more I realized that I need God's help in every aspect of my life. I'm pretty sure the majority of our plans from 2020 have been canceled or postponed due to the pandemic. Certainly, I need Him day by day. I don't want to just come to God when I need Him during an emergency or when bad things occur. Instead, I want to always include and consult with Him during the happy, scary, uncertain, sad, disappointed, angry, confused moments of my life too.
Likewise, I admire Moses because of how dependent He is toward God. "Now therefore, if I have found favor in your sight, please show me now your ways, that I may know you in order to find favor in your sight." Not only did Moses asked God to show him God's way and presence, but also asked God to show him His glory. Exodus 33:12-23
May we constantly bask ourselves in God's presence, carrying His presence wherever we go, until we overflow and allow the people around us to taste and see God's goodness and favor.
Whatever journey or decision you need to make this year, I want to leave these two key verses to strengthen you:
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in ALL you do, and He will show you which path to take." Proverbs 3:5,6
